General Information
“Pattaya” is located in the area of Chon Buri Province which is a special administrative region and tourism city that is highly popular with Thais and foreigners. More than 90% of Pattaya’s income is from tourism. In addition, there are several accommodations that are low-priced hotels in hundreds and five-star hotels. This city is also bustling with various kinds of entertainment venues and delicious restaurants that are situated in almost every corner of Pattaya. With regard to Pattaya, it is divided into Na Klua Beach, North, Central and South Pattaya Beach, Jomtien Beach and Na Jomtien Beach.
There are only a few people that know the background of the name “Pattaya”. In fact, it did not use this name from the beginning; it was formerly named “Thap Pattaya” which was derived from this place where the army passed by and Phraya Tak’s army was located. Furthermore, there is Patthaya Wind which is the southwest wind that passed through, so this place became “Patthaya” Village. At present, it is rewritten as “Pattaya”.
Traveling
Pattaya is only 150 kilometers away from Bangkok, so people can easily travel to Pattaya as a one-day trip. Moreover, traveling to Pattaya is quite convenient.
Personal Car
There are many routes to select from when traveling by personal car depending on which route is more convenient.
Use Bang Na – Trat Route
Travel from Burapha Withi Expressway to the end of the expressway at Amata Nakorn. Then, stay left on the bypass in order to avoid traffic jams in the city of Chon Buri Province. Keep driving, there will be signs for Pattaya.
Use Highway 34 Bang Na – Bang Pakong
Go to Sukhumvit route by passing through Chon Buri Province, Bang Saen Beach, and Si Racha District. Then, head to Pattaya.
Use Motorway
Head to Pattaya by following the signs for Chon Buri Province, and turn left on the Sukhumvit route in order to go to Pattaya.
Van
For van to Pattaya, there are many companies that provide service, such as at Century Mall or around Victory Monument, Mo Chit, Ekkamai, and in front of Ratchada, 4 Alley. You can choose a company at your convenience with fares at approximately 100 Baht.
Bus (Coach Bus)
It is available at Mo Chit and Ekkamai with fares at approximately 100 Baht.
